Although they have yet to reach the popularity of men’s hats, women’s cowboy hats are definitely on the rise. Remember men’s hats had at least a century head start. In the early days, they were almost solely worn by men. It was the men who were out working on the range. The women were home caring for the kids and preparing the food. Sure the ladies helped out in the garden. But the really tough labor, plowing and herding an the like, was a man’s domain.
Women, please don’t think I’m suggesting that raising kids and keeping a house isn’t hard work. It is. I could never do it well on my own. I’m simply pointing out the way thing were thought of a hundred years ago.
Because of this, very few even thought of the idea of women’s cowboys hats. Typically the head covering for a woman was a bandana or possibly a scarf. My how the times have changed.
Women now do everything men do, and then some. Have you seen a rodeo on TV recently or in person. Cowgirls herd the cattle and rope the steers right along side the men. And in more traditional jobs, women work construction, driving the heavy equipment etc. In short, they do anything men do.
And women wear cowboy hats. Not just the country music singers either. Women wear them as a fashion statement. And what a great looking statement. You don’t have to be a cowgirl to wear a women’s cowboy hat. You just have to want to look good.
The good news is that as women’s cowboys hats become more popular, they are as easy to find as ones for men. And the selection is just as good. Heck you can even find them a you local women’s boutique if you live in an area where they are really popular. And of course there are a bazillion places online. And for a working mother, the convenience of shopping on the internet just can’t be beat. And chances are, it’s where you’ll find the best deals as well.
